Corus International
Duty Station: Kharkiv, with frequent travel to program sites (Kyiv, Chernigiv, Sumy)
Summary of the role:
Corus International has been working in Ukraine since the beginning of the war in 2022 and implements a series of programs ranging from supporting the displaced, vulnerable population in mobile health service access, agriculture, and livelihood restoration to winterization and other humanitarian needs.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
The driver will bring significant input to support the Corus International team and partners in safe and secure business trips to assigned locations. The post holder will ensure that all Corus International in Ukraine and Partner projects are supported to ensure the quality, safety, and secureness of the trips using the Corus International vehicle. Keeping the vehicle in appropriate technical and cosmetic condition will be important to maintain the ongoing and future programming activities.
Communication and Coordination
The driver will report directly to the Logistics and Operations Coordinator and will work closely with Corus staff in Ukraine
- Builds and maintains effective relationships with the team, colleagues, members, and external partners and counterparts.
- Support visits from HQ when a driver is needed.
- Regularly control/update and report on vehicle mileage status.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid driver's license, appropriate for the vehicle(s) the driver will operate (category B).
- A clean driving record with no traffic violations or accidents.
- Familiarity with Kyiv city and the surrounding areas, including knowledge of safe and efficient routes.
- Awareness of safety protocols and regulations related to driving, including seat belt use, speed limits, and vehicle maintenance.
- Basic proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian is required; proficiency in English will be an advantage.
- Physical fitness and health to perform driving duties effectively and safely.
- Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with passengers, colleagues, partners, and members of the public.
- Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings or weekends, if necessary.
- Alignment with the NGO's and Humanitarian’s mission and values.
Preferrable experience:
- Recommended a minimum of 5 years of driving experience.
- Previous experience as a driver, particularly in a professional setting. Experience with NGOs, iNGO, and international organizations like the UN will be preferred.
- Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Work Conditions:
The position is a national hire and will be based in Kyiv with expected regular travel to the project sites (often located in the areas requiring prior security and travel authorization approvals). Corus Ukraine does not operate in the front-line zones, however, may come close to the geographies that may be classified as extremely high risk; the position will be expected to comply with relevant safety and security protocols enforced and followed for that matter.
Safety and Security protocols and standard operating procedures will have to be adhered to at any given time.
The position is subject to relevant travel and perdiem policy for trips outside of its duty station.
Extended operating hours or, at times, working on the weekends may be requested, given the complexity or urgency of the project activities.
