Organizational Context
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization, with a network of 191-member National Societies (NSs). The overall aim of IFRC is “to inspire, encourage, facilitate, and promote at all times all forms of humanitarian activities by NSs with a view to preventing and alleviating human suffering and thereby contributing to the maintenance and promotion of human dignity and peace in the world.” IFRC works to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people before, during and after disasters, health emergencies and other crises.
IFRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (Movement), together with its member National Societies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The work of IFRC is guided by the following fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality.
IFRC is led by its Secretary General, and has its Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The Headquarters are organized into three main Divisions: (i) National Society Development and Operations Coordination; (ii) Global Relations, Humanitarian Diplomacy and Digitalization; and (iii) Management Policy, Strategy and Corporate Services.
IFRC has five regional offices in Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, Europe, and the Americas. IFRC also has country cluster delegations and country delegations throughout the world. Together, the Geneva Headquarters and the field structure (regional, cluster and country) comprise the IFRC Secretariat.
IFRC has a zero-tolerance policy on conduct that is incompatible with the aims and objectives of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, including sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment and other forms of harassment, abuse of authority, discrimination, and lack of integrity (including but not limited to financial misconduct). IFRC also adheres to strict child safeguarding principles.
Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision and guidance of the fleet officer, the driver will oversee driving the IFRC team and the materials and equipment for the program’s activities and will perform necessary miscellaneous job-related duties.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Drive IFRC staff in a safe and courteous manner, and according to IFRC driver rules and regulations.
- Always obey IFRC vehicle policy and operating procedures (use of logbook, no drinking and driving, seatbelts, etc.).
- Responsible for the daily cleanliness of the interior/exterior of the vehicle.
- Conform daily morning assessments of road conditions and security situations when in the field or traveling to the field.
- Inform Flett and Security Departments upon departure/arrival and departure from field sites.
- Inspect and record the condition of the vehicle daily; prepare a weekly maintenance checklist.
- Ensure timely servicing and maintenance of IFRC vehicles, and report to Logistics Department any mechanical problems.
- Ensure vehicle is insured and all legal documents are always in order; inform Logistics Department three weeks in advance of any renewals due (i.e. insurance, road license, etc.).
- Accountable for all vehicle equipment and spares. Negligent loss of equipment will result in immediate dismissal or equivalent deduction from salary.
- Ensure vehicle security and safety when parking.
- Ensure vehicle is never overloaded and only carries IRC passengers.
- Assist the Logistics Department in loading and unloading cargo.
- Assist staff if there is no other assignment.
- Assist with any other duties as required by your Supervisor.
- Respect driving speed limits always.
- Assist with any other duties as required by your Supervisor.
- Always ensure passengers riding assignments wear seat belts.
- Ensure unauthorized passengers are not in the vehicle unless a waiver is signed.
- Visually inspects and mutually tests the vehicle prior to departure.
- Obey all traffic rules and regulations in the Country
- Maintains vehicle logbook up to date and with all required information.
- Obey all traffic signs and driving rules as set by IFRC.
- Keep an inventory of all tools and accessories in the vehicle.
- Actively work towards the achievement of the Federation Secretariat’s goals.
- Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles.
- Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the line manager.
- Successfully completed the Stay Safe e-learning courses (basic).
- Formal education to the primary level.
- Must have a valid professional driver’s license legal in Ukraine.
- Minimum 3 years of driving experience.
- Have C and D category
- Working for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
- Working for a humanitarian aid organisation.
- Basic knowledge of cars mechanics
- Knowledge of traffic rules in Ukraine.
