About The Project

Backbase is a Dutch banking software financial technology company that provides a banking infrastructure software platform that it calls engagement banking. The system is used by financial institutions globally from large banks to credit unions and community banks.

About The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior or Lead Systems Engineer (DevOps) to join our client’s team — a company at the forefront of AI-powered engagement banking platform. This role is critical to building and maintaining secure, scalable, and cost-efficient infrastructure in Azure, with a strong emphasis on automation, GitOps, and cloud-native technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate secure and resilient Azure infrastructure to support banking runtimes.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and compliance with strict uptime and cost-efficiency targets.
• Implement and enforce Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and GitOps practices using Terraform/OpenTofu, Helm, Kubernetes, Istio, and ArgoCD.
• Drive cloud cost optimization initiatives through scalable architecture and efficient resource usage.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with product and security requirements.
• Promote automation-first principles across infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
  
  

Must-Have Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, with 3+ years of deep hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure.
• 2+ years of experience with: Kubernetes; ArgoCD; Helm; Istio; GitHub Actions; Terraform or OpenTofu
• Strong understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps methodologies.
• Proven ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English (B2 level or higher).

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience working on banking projects, in the fintech domain, or within product-oriented organizations.
