Description

As part of the ongoing effort to modernize the embedded software in advanced scientific equipment, this sub-project focuses on improving the software and firmware update process for factory-configured devices.

Currently, updates are applied manually in a sequential manner, which limits scalability and increases operational effort. This initiative aims to design and implement a (semi-)automated update mechanism capable of performing parallel deployments across multiple units, significantly reducing installation time and improving consistency.

Key goals include minimizing manual intervention, ensuring reliable version control and compatibility checks, and enabling efficient, scalable rollouts within production environments. The resulting system will enhance maintainability and operational efficiency for high-value devices in complex manufacturing workflows.

The ability to share measurement results and accelerate customer service.

Requirements

Job Description

We are looking for a Middle Java Developer with 2+ years of commercial experience in Java enterprise development. You will join a cross-functional team to implement and maintain scalable backend services and APIs, working under the guidance of senior engineers and tech leads.

Must Have:

– Solid experience with Java 8+ (core, lambdas, collections, streams);

– Understanding of OOP principles and familiarity with SOLID concepts;

– Hands-on experience with Spring Boot (building RESTful APIs, configuration, testing);

– Familiarity with Microservices architecture;

– Experience using Postman or similar tools for API testing;

– Basic knowledge of REST API design principles;

– Experience working with Git

– Understanding of CI/CD workflows;

– Good spoken and written English for communication with the team and stakeholders.

– Excellent Bash scripting skills for automation and tooling;

– Solid understanding of networking concepts

Nice to Have:

– Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms;

– Experience with application monitoring, debugging, or profiling tools;

– Ability to participate in occasional onsite meetings (if needed).

Job responsibilities

– Develop and maintain backend services and APIs;

– Collaborate with senior developers and QA to deliver high-quality code;

– Participate in code reviews and technical discussions;

– Support bug fixing and help troubleshoot production issues;

– Write or contribute to technical documentation.
