Description

We are seeking a technically strong and experienced Principal Software Engineer / Project Lead to lead the architecture, development, and delivery of a web-based surgery planning application. This role focuses on designing robust, scalable software using AngularJS for the front end and C++ for the back end, while guiding a cross-functional team through the full development lifecycle.

Core Job Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

Translate system-level requirements into software requirements and robust, scalable, and efficient software solutions.

Coordinate with UX designers to ensure a seamless and user-friendly experience.

Define and evolve the software architecture for a modular, maintainable, and high-performance surgery planning platform.

Lead the development of front-end components using AngularJS and back-end services in C++.

Ensure clean separation of concerns, efficient data handling, and responsive user interfaces tailored to clinical workflows.

Establish and enforce coding standards, architectural guidelines, and development best practices.

Project Management

Lead cross-functional teams through planning, development, testing, and deployment phases.

Collaborate with clinical stakeholders and product managers to define requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

Manage project timelines, risks, and deliverables to ensure successful and timely releases.

Quality & Compliance

Ensure adherence to relevant software quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., IEC 62304).

Oversee code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration/deployment processes.

Support documentation, validation, and audit readiness activities.

Job responsibilities

Core Qualifications Include:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

10+ years of experience in software development.

3+ years in a technical leadership or project lead role.

Experience in clinical or healthcare-related software development is highly desirable.

Proficiency in C++ and web-based applications on Linux

Experience with web application architecture, RESTful services, and performance optimization.

Familiarity with build systems and CI/CD pipelines.

Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to mentor team members and foster a collaborative development culture.

Ability to mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative development environment.

Fluent in English

Fluent in German is a plus *

Preferred Qualifications Include:

Understanding of clinical workflows

Proficiency in Angular JS

Experience In Using Requirements Management Tools (e.g. Polarion)
