Application Engineer

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join Kennametal as an Application Engineer. The successful candidate will provide technical support to Sales Engineers and Channel Partners with the aim of maintaining existing business and generating new opportunities across Kennametal’s portfolio of cutting-edge products, recognized as one of the most comprehensive in the industry.

Working closely with our valued customers and contributing to our success, you will represent some of the industry’s most diverse and in-demand products. From milling cutters and carbide inserts to solid carbide drills, tool holders, and more, we offer customers a broad portfolio for virtually any metalworking application.

The Application Engineer will be responsible for conducting tests, preparing test reports, and identifying solutions that help increase sales opportunities. You will apply a high level of technical expertise that reflects our position as an acknowledged industry leader. This role involves working with distributors, direct accounts, or a combination of both.

Responsibilities

• Identify new technical solutions and recommend tools from the existing standard portfolio
• Collaborate with tool designers to develop special tools according to customer requests, with the goal of winning new sales opportunities
• Provide technical support within the assigned geographical area
• Support existing customers and maintain current business
• Assess and evaluate customer needs (direct and indirect) to develop effective strategies that meet and exceed targets
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with end users to grow long-term partnerships
• Present products to customers using best practice reports and proven solutions
• Keep customers informed about new technologies and product innovation
• Share technical insights and solutions regularly with the local sales team
• Prepare tooling lists for machines with detailed cutting parameters and time studies
• Actively support team sales initiatives by sharing relevant information for assigned accounts
• Work closely with Sales Engineers to determine the best technical solutions for customer requirements
• Participate in roadshows, open days, and trade fairs
  
  

Education And Experience

• Degree or apprenticeship in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering
• Experience in the metal cutting or precision tooling industry
• Solid understanding of contracts and proven experience in commercial negotiations
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and metal cutting concepts
• CNC programming, CAD/CAM experience
• Innovative, solution-oriented, and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Valid Category B driver’s license
• Intermediate level of English
  
  

Location

Home-based in central or northwestern Slovakia, ideally within 100 km of our Žilina office, with frequent travel to customer sites.
