Houdini Artist (VFX, Military simulation)

We are currently looking for an experienced Houdini Artist to work remotely or in-house to deliver high-quality, realistic destruction and visual effects for a military simulator.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare high-quality explosion setups for explosions, simulations of various sizes and types, according to given references and requirements
• Test and validate the effects in a custom in-house game engine
• Optimize simulations and volumes to meet performance
• Collaborate closely with technical teams to maintain a consistent and efficient production pipeline
• Submit finalized assets, ensuring proper naming conventions and version control
• Work with the team lead to plan and prioritize tasks in alignment with project goals
  
  

Requirements:

• Strong practical knowledge of Houdini (work with volumes, pyro simulations, procedural workflows)
• Understanding of explosions works
• Experience preparing game-ready volume explosions setups
• Ability to test and debug assets within a game engine environment (preferably custom or proprietary)
• Good understanding of optimization principles for real-time applications
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team
• Understanding of the game production pipeline
  
  

As a plus:

• Experience with Python or VEX scripting for tool creation and automation in Houdini
• Familiarity with Unity, Unreal Engine 5, or other real-time engines
• Experience with Substance Painter, Designer, or Photoshop for texture adjustment
• Experience for creating flipbooks, working with 6-point lights and optical flow
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Passion for games, interactive experiences, or military simulators
