Senior Automation Tester in Java (ML+SageMaker)

We are seeking a Senior Automation Tester in Java (ML+SageMaker) to build and maintain automated testing solutions for Java microservices while focusing on the quality assurance of Machine Learning Systems. This role combines hands-on test automation expertise with exposure to model evaluation, functional testing, and monitoring to detect model drift, working within an Agile Scrum environment to embed quality early in the development lifecycle.

Kindly note that this role supports remote work, but only from within Ukraine.

Responsibilities

• Build the right thing and build it right through hands-on contribution to automated testing for Java microservices, with exposure to integration testing between Java services and AWS Lambda functions
• Implement and maintain a microservices testing strategy covering unit, component, contract, and simple, maintainable end-to-end tests
• Support developers in running containerized services locally to prevent integration issues and keep pipelines clean in a trunk-based development environment
• Participate actively in Agile Scrum refinement sessions to ensure clear user stories and acceptance criteria
• Apply BDD practices such as 3 Amigos and Gherkin/Cucumber
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and other engineers to embed quality early and continuously improve frameworks and pipelines
• Focus on testing Machine Learning Systems, including model evaluation, key functional testing, and monitoring of models to detect model drift
• Build and maintain automated tests using Java, JUnit, and Rest-Assured
• Use Pact for contract testing and tools like Selenium and Cypress for UI testing where applicable
• Integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines to support trunk-based development
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies with a focus on quality and testability
• Build and apply a Machine Learning Test Strategy in collaboration with the Engineering Manager, Machine Learning, and Data Scientists
  
  

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Java development and test automation
• Knowledge of microservices testing strategies
• Familiarity with AWS platform services, including Lambda, API Gateway, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM
• Experience working in Agile Scrum and applying BDD practices
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and trunk-based development
• Strong communication skills and a passion for continuous learning
• Some experience with Machine Learning systems
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher
