Project Overview

The customer is a global medical device company developing point-of-care diagnostic systems used in hospital and clinical environments.

The project focuses on the remediation and modernization of software Design History Files for an established product family. The primary objective is to improve software and system requirements, close documentation gaps, and rebuild complete end-to-end traceability across requirements, risk controls, software design, implementation, and verification evidence.

Role Overview

DevOps Engineer provides technical leadership and strategic direction for the design, implementation, and optimization of robust infrastructure, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and cloud environments supporting regulated medical device systems. With an emphasis on point-of-care diagnostic devices, embedded Linux platforms, and connected health solutions that interface with Healthcare Information Systems, this role is a hands-on individual contributor with demonstrated technical leadership experience. The position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, security, and traceability of infrastructure deployment, embedding automated quality and cybersecurity controls (DevSecOps) directly into the lifecycle. The position partners closely with Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Product Management teams to deliver secure, automated, and audit-ready systems for connected point-of-care environments.

Requirements

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Software Engineering,
  
  
  

including hands-on experience building and managing cloud environments for regulated medical devices,

healthcare, diagnostics, or similarly controlled environments.

• Demonstrated mastery of Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem (EC2, EKS/ECS, IAM, VPC, RDS, Route53,
  
  
  

and cloud security frameworks).

• Strong foundational knowledge of general security practices, threat modeling, and DevSecOps tools (e.g.,
  
  
  

SonarQube, Black Duck SCA, Artifactory, GitHub Enterprise, and Jenkins) embedded within deployment

workflows.

• Proven expertise implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC); hands-on working knowledge of Pulumi is a
  
  
  

strong asset, alongside comprehensive familiarity with tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

• Deep technical understanding of general DevOps principles, including containerization (Docker,
  
  
  

Kubernetes), configuration management (Ansible), and Linux system administration (specifically

embedded Linux platforms and firmware integration).

• Familiarity with medical device software compliance standards (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11,
  
  
  

and IVDR) as they relate to software release lifecycle, risk management, and design controls is a plus.

• Experience configuring and maintaining enterprise CI/CD systems, robust log analysis pipelines
  
  
  

(ELK/Splunk), and automated test evidence generation in a regulated development workflow.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure solutions utilizing Amazon Web Services
  
  
  

(AWS) in alignment with regulatory standards including IEC 62304, ISO 13485, and FDA 21 CFR Part 11.

• Design, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) architectures to automate environment
  
  
  

provisioning; experience with Pulumi is highly preferred, alongside general proficiency in industry-

standard tools.

• Champion DevSecOps practices by integrating automated security compliance, vulnerability scanning,
  
  
  

code analysis, and certificate management tools directly into the build and deployment lifecycles.

• Build, optimize, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines (such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or Azure DevOps)
  
  
  

supporting embedded Linux builds, firmware compilation, web applications, and API service deployments.

• Collaborate with connectivity and software teams to ensure robust deployment topologies for device
  
  
  

management platforms, middleware, LIS/HIS interfaces, and cloud-native APIs operating in networked

hospital environments.

• Implement automated data integrity safeguards, error handling monitoring, log aggregation, and real-time
  
  
  

observability frameworks (monitoring, alerting, and tracing) across staging and production environments.

• Ensure strict compliance, documentation, and end-to-end traceability of configuration changes,
  
  
  

environment baselines, and release evidence using ALM and issue-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Jama) to

maintain audit-ready status.

• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, peer reviews, and DevOps best-practice leadership to cross-
  
  
  

functional engineering teams without primary people-management responsibility.

• Communicate infrastructure risks, deployment blockers, security vulnerabilities, and release readiness
  
  
  

trends clearly to engineering leadership and stakeholders.
